April Schaeffer - Flute
(Beginning to intermediate)

Hi my name is April and I have relocated to Virginia from Washington State. I teach students from the ages of 9 and up beginning to intermediate flute. I've been playing flute for 25 years. I played flute in the school band from elementary school all the way through high school and college. I have also played flute, piano and sang in worship bands at various churches since I was a teenager. I studied music and earned an AAS degree from Pierce College in Lakewood, WA in 2002. I managed the Creative Arts Ministry at my church in Lakewood, WA. This entailed running band practice, teaching the vocalist and their respective parts, led a vocal ensemble group, and transposed any necessary music.

I enjoy teaching flute and have been for the past 5 years. In lessons I like to focus on these points:
- I work on tone exercises to help the student get a nice round beautiful sound.
- I focus on technique as well as theory.
- I am really aim to instill confidence in the students playing.
