Kathleen Mikkelsen - Piano,Voice

Hi I'm Kathleen and I have 25 plus years of experience performing, teaching, accompanying and directing music. I have worked extensively in church music, contemporary keyboard chord charts or traditional styles.

I have a Masters of Music degree in piano performance from New Mexico State University with Bachelors degrees from both NMSU and University of Nevada-Reno. I also spent a semester studying at the Royal College of Music in London.

I see myself having something to offer three groups of piano students:

-Traditional piano lessons; covering all the basics, theory, proper techniques and so on to get students a good all around foundation. I will teach beginner through advanced college prep. levels.
-Improvisation and Chord Chart playing students; who have intermediate skills often have not had help in learning to improvise or play off pop charts etc. I can incorporate this instruction into Traditional lessons or give some targeted instruction to students who may already be at an intermediate level.
-'Personal Trainer'; I've had a lot of fun in the past helping people who have had lessons, but are frustrated with not being able to use what they learned in the past. Often there is a weak of missing link or two...that can be worked on with good results a 'personal trainer' approach.
