Brian Chafin - Guitar
(Beginning to intermediate electric and acoustic guitar)

Hi I'm Brian and I have been playing guitar for 15 years. My specialties are Rock, Jazz and Folk style guitar. I believe that learning the fundamentals to create original music enforces deeper understanding of one's instrument and provides a realistic application for learning music theory. I can teach you how to read music and chord charts if you like or just tablature. By focusing on proper techniques we can develop song writing skills, which I encourage.

I grew up playing in various school bands and was selected for all state Jazz band in 2001. I have also played in several church bands for many years. I've played guitar for the popular DC rock/soul group, Politicks, for 7 years now. Our recent single, 'The Letter', received significant national air play including considerable play on our own DC101. The Politicks, have
shared the stage with legendary and modern stars such as; Al Green, Laurlyn Hill, The Roots, India Arie, Raphael Saadiq, Soullive, and many more.

I teach both electric and acoustic guitar and teach beginning to intermediate level students from ages 6 to adult. You can find me teaching at Classic Axe Guitar Gallery on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
